Grasshopper

This picture of a grasshopper on a branch is one of my earliest and most favorite insect portraits. It was taken in Wilderness Park in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the summer of 2003 - a period of time I refer to as the "Summer of Grasshoppers" after the number of grasshopper shots I took then. I especially like how crisp and detailed this shot is; the grasshopper's wide-eyed expression, the moss details on the branch, and the vaguely-discernable branches in the background keep pulling me back to this picture.
